Episode 70:
It never goes the way it’s scripted. After firing Jason Kreis and replacing him with an unproven rookie Head Coach in Patrick Vieira, NYCFC’s 2017 was supposed to be another foray into mishandling of the personnel and wasted opportunities. But after two hard fought victories against Vancouver and DC United, NYCFC headed out to one of the toughest venues to play at in MLS, Providence Park. And they won.
This week, Mike and Jon discuss the effort needed to hold off the Portland offense, the luck involved in getting the win and likely heroes in the game.
In the second segment Matt Doyle, The Armchair Analyst, and regular contributor to MLSSoccer.com and Extra Time Radio joins the show to discuss NYCFC. Earlier in the month Matt had detailed on Extra Time Radio why mathematically NYCFC cannot make the playoffs in their sophomore season. Mike and Jon get his analysis and opinion on what pieces work and which ones should move on.
We wrap the show with predictions on TFC and the “Second Biggest Rivalry in MLS” the match up on Saturday with the Red Bulls. And last but certainly not least, NYCFC fans say goodbye to two original blogs, NYCFCFan Podcast and NYCFCBlues.
