Episode 377:

The sparks were flying down in Florida and not all in a good way for NYCFC. The boys in blue jumped out to another lead in this match but similar to the previous match in Columbus, mistakes would cost NYCFC all three points.

Episode 376:

The Columbus Crew are always a challenging opponent for NYCFC. This year the Crew have one of their strongest rosters in years and NYCFC and interim head coach, Nick Cushing, are still wading through the post-Taty waters. It was a recipe for disappointment and Saturday’s match lived up to its billing.

The guys take a deep dive into the letdowns and missed opportunities from the 3-2 loss. Then they do their best to look ahead at the final games of the season and discuss who they feel Cushing should play for key matches.

NYCFC travelled up to Montreal but they left all of their offensive creativity at the border. The first game without striker, Taty Castellanos, was accurately described by Ian Joy and Joe Tolleson as rudderless.

He came, he scored, he conquered. Valentine Castellanos departs NYCFC as one of the team’s most adored players. While the deal surrounding his departure was not one for the headlines, his legacy will remain strong and solid in New York. And as the player said himself via instagram, “This is not goodbye but see you later.”

This week Chris Campbell joins Mike and Mike Allen to discuss the striker’s impact on the club and what happens next for NYCFC.

In the second segment, Joe Lowery from Backheeled.com and The Total Soccer Show comes on to give his outsiders perspective on all things NYCFC and some USMNT topics.

Nick Cushing lead NYCFC to their first win under his watch in the previous week against New England, but this week the interim head coach looked to get his first road victory in charge. In order to do so, he would have to face some difficult challenges given travel, game time temperatures, injuries, suspensions and two difficult opponents.

Well, he was up to the task and then some. Cushing deployed two very distinct approaches to two very different opponents and lead the team to two one-nil victories.

For the second time in their short history an NYCFC Head Coach left the team for a job in Europe mid-season. The biggest difference between this departure and that of Patrick Vieira in 2018 was that the news broke much sooner to Deila’s departure. There was no weeks long tug of war between the coach and the media. There was the game in Belson Stadium, the away match in Minnesota and then all of a sudden Ronny was gone.

This week Mike, J.R. and Chris Campbell from the Outfield discuss the news of Nick Cushing being named interim head coach for the rest of the season.
