The USMNT returned from Mexico and easily defeated Panama to all but clinch a spot in the World Cup Finals scheduled for later this year. A hatrick for Christian Pulisic bookended goals from fellow attackers, Paul Arriola and Jesus Ferreira.
In an as equally awaited match up north, NYCFC II would take the field for the first time ever in Queens. The home team losing 4-3 on PK’s after regular time ended 2-2.

NYCFC knew they had a tall task ahead of them hosting Philadelphia at Yankee Stadium on Saturday. The Pigeons were one game away from a much needed rest after the whirlwind preseason and Champions League run. Philadelphia came in hoping to avenge the playoff loss the previous year.

It was another cold home opener for NYCFC in the Bronx but the boys in blue were on fire as they made easy work of CF Montreal 4-1. Then the team travelled to Guatemala for leg 2 of the Concacaf Champions League Quarterfinals and looked very poor playing some of the club’s worst soccer since 2015. Luckily, they were good enough to advance 5-5 with the away goals advantage.

Not many NYCFC fans made it to Vancouver for the second regular season match for the Pigeons. The number probably was not too far off from the number of supporters that traveled to Connecticut for the first leg of the CCL Quarterfinals.
This week the guys discuss the 0-0 draw from the weekend and then reconvene on Tuesday after the 3-1 victory over Communicaciones.
NYCFC did not play it’s best game yet still was minutes away from escaping LA with a point. The pigeons had overcome some questionable calls by referee Joe Dickerson to reach the 90th minute level, but a Keaton Parks error would leave the Galaxy a golden opportunity and they capitalized.
