Stealing 3 Pts From TFC, Getting to Know LI Rough Rider’s Stephen Roche / Ep 193 / Blue City Radio

Episode 193:

NYCFC didn’t play their best game this past Sunday.  In previous seaons, it used to take a team’s best to beat Toronto at home in BMO Field.  Luckily for NYCFC, this is 2018 and even a lackluster performance and flashes of brilliance can be enough.

Mike, Jon and J.R. sit down to discuss the biggest moments from Sunday’s match.  They also crown a Bronx Bomber and a Bronx Cheer recipient for the game.

In the second segment, Dave Harris and Long Island Rough Riders Head Coach, Stephen Roche join the show to talk to us about USL/PDL and NYCFC newcomer, Danny Bedoya.

Lastly, Mike and J.R. wrap up with your comments.

Silencing the Union, Julie Stewart-Binks, The Lions Return / Ep 114 / Blue City Radio

Episode 114:

I don’t believe what I just saw was a common refrain after Villa’s wonder-strike in the waning minutes of Friday’s game.  Mike and Jon discuss the NYCFC 2-0 victory over the Union.

In the second segment, ESPN sideline reporter Julie Stewarts-Binks joins the show to discuss not only that moment, but her experiences on the sideline with Patrick Vieira and NYCFC.

The guys close out the show looking ahead to Sunday’s match up versus Orlando.

Ugly Wins the Day, Sam Stejskal and Closing the Door On RFK / Ep 112 / Blue City Radio

Episode 112:

It started ugly and despite NYCFC fighting back from an early defensive gaff, the 2-1 victory never really got prettier.  In the end, the points are all that matter.  Mike and Jon discuss the game and attempt to find the bright spots in a poor performance.

In the second segment, Sam Stejskal from MLSSoccer.com joins the show to give his insight into the big stories in MLS so far in 2017 and talk about the NYCFC players that are catching his attention.

The show wraps up with a look ahead at the final match up between NYCFC and DC United this season.

LEXIT, NYCFC Effect and USAvMEX / Ep 96 / Blue City Radio

Episode 96:

This week’s episode kicks off with a look at the legacy of Frank Lampard as he announces his departure from NYCFC.  Season Ticket Holder and Third Rail member Tony Larsen joins the show to discuss that topic but also two NYCFC-ish events in NY from last week.  First was a fundraiser for the South Bronx United with Jack Harrison and Jimmy Conrad.  The second was a Third Rail end of season event with honorees David Villa, Andoni Iraola and guests Patrick Vieira and RJ Allen.

After the break Andy Maycraft (sorry Leah was busy insulting Mike Francessa on her own vblog) from A View from 226 joins us to discuss USAvMEX from Columbus.

The show closes with a little deeper dive into the shortlist of players fans have been throwing out as replacements for the departing DP.

History In the Making, and a Work In Progress / Ep 95 / Blue City Radio

Episode 95

Part of NYCFC’s identity is quickly becoming, when the expectations are at their highest, the team’s performance is their lowest.  Once again, the supporters were ready for a great fight from NYCFC and the team well flat.

Mike and Jon discuss the impact of the game from Sunday and start the task of looking ahead to the 2017 season.

In the second segment Matt Reed from NBC Sports and Pro Soccer Talk comes in to discuss the MLS Cup Playoffs and NYCFC’s season and historic first-ever playoff run.  We close out the show looking ahead at USAvMEX.

Not the NYCFC Way / Ep 94 / Blue City Radio

Episode 94:

Patrick Vieira seemed to have lost faith in NYCFC’s ability to score.  The coach who constantly said, “Our style is to create more chances than we concede” put a defensive lineup on the first ever playoff game in NYCFC history, and they lost, creating zero big chances in the process.

We flip the show around today in honor of Vieira’s folly, and also because we forgot to record a segment on Monday, but hey, it works.

In the second segment Mike is joined by Dan Riccio from TFC Pitchside to get the perspective of the Toronto media and their outlook on Sunday’s second leg game.

The third segment is a great talk with announcer Tom Kolker from WFAN who tells the guys his highs and lows of the game from Toronto.

NYCFC still have a chance, they’ve delivered in the past, the big question going into the game, will Vieira set them up for success or failure.

Any Which Way You Can / Ep 84 / Blue City Radio

Episode 84

NYCFC didn’t do it pretty, they needed the help of the AR, but in the end, they got the result, the three points and they remain top of the Eastern Conference with only eight more games left in their season.

Mike and Jon take a look at this wild affair.  There’s a somber but important start, but then analysis on the keys to the game.

In the middle segment, Matt Reed from NBC Sports and Pro Soccer Talk joins the show to breakdown the Eastern Conference and give his perspective on NYCFC.

There’s still more drama left in this season for sure, but as of now, NYCFC still control their destiny.

Blue City Radio – Ep 55

Ep 55: Goodbye Chris, Hello Federico, NYCFCvFGCU and Mix talk

This week’s episode starts with a conversation about a fan favorite, Chris Wingert after the team announced his departure on Saturday.  The conversation continues with a look at some possible signings and an explanation on International Roster spots.

Next Neil Falcone joins the show to discuss what he has seen at training and also get his thoughts on the NYCFC scrimmage from Sunday.

Lastly, is 2016 a make or break year for Mix Diskerud? Jon and I discuss why this could be the most important year of his career and then wrap the show up with “Loose Ends”.

Episode 30: Pirlo Party, MC Bousquette and a Busy August

Ep 30:

Jon and Mike give you a recap of NYCvORL.  Jon tells you where he thinks the Pirlo introduction ranks in terms of key NYCFC moments.  Then MC Bousquette checks in with us to talk NYCFC, USWNT and Sky Blue FC.  Then we wrap up with a look ahead at Montreal and what will be a very busy August for the club with 6 games.
