Historic moments often come completely by surprise. NYCFC’s first MLS Cup Championship was the pinnacle moment for fans, but it was a cup final. Expectations were high, but the outcome was plausible. The team had earned a chance to have that special moment.

This week Mike Anderer, J.R. deBart, and Mike Allen gloat over the dominant performance from Nick Cushing’s side from Saturday. There’s audio from Nick Cushing, Hannes Wolf and Brad Sims.

Six Crucial Road Points / Ep 373 / Blue City Radio

Episode 373:

Nick Cushing lead NYCFC to their first win under his watch in the previous week against New England, but this week the interim head coach looked to get his first road victory in charge. In order to do so, he would have to face some difficult challenges given travel, game time temperatures, injuries, suspensions and two difficult opponents.

Well, he was up to the task and then some. Cushing deployed two very distinct approaches to two very different opponents and lead the team to two one-nil victories.

This week the guys discuss these two games in depth and also go over the news that was all over Twitter on Sunday and Monday, that Taty Castellanos’s future is finally set.

Episode 337:

This week Ronny Deila quipped that in the previous three meetings between NYCFC and Red Bull at Red Bull Arena the referees erred in favor of Red Bull and took points away from NYCFC. Behavioral specialists all agree that seeing three acts is enough to demonstrate a pattern.

The question entering Saturday’s match was how NYCFC would respond. The answer unfortunately was not good.

This week Mike, J.R. and Mike Allen discuss the two games from Derby Week and include audio from Ronny Deila, Sean Johnson and Anton Tinnerholm.

The Dallas Draw and the Cincy Scramble / Ep 336 / Blue City Radio

Episode 336:

NYCFC went into Tuesday’s game thinking that Ricardo Pepi was going to be a focal point of the FC Dallas attack. James Sands did an excellent job containing Pepi through out most of the match. Unfortunately it would be the rest of the Dallas offense that would help the Texas team split the points from Red Bull Arena.

On Saturday for the second time in as many games, the club would concede an fourth minute goal. Luckily for the first time since May, NYCFC would show the resilience necessary to steal three points on the road ending their seven game road winless streak.

This week Mike, J.R. and Mike Allen give their thoughts on the two games and look ahead at Derby Week.

This week Mike, Jon and J.R. take a look at Deila’s choices and the way the two games played out.
