Rivalries Weak / Ep 453 / Blue City Radio

Episode 453:

After falling in their last home game of five in a row to Colorado there was some nervousness amongst the NYCFC fanbase, and it was justified. The team was pathetic on the road in 2023 and had a difficult schedule looming. Nick Cushing quipped after the Colorado loss, “We’ve won 10 points out of 15 from the home stand, let’s see where we are after the next 5 games because three are on the road.”

NYCFC would go on to take the next nine available points defeating Toronto last week and completing a sweep of cross-river rivals in Philadelphia on Wednesday and Red Bull on Saturday.

This week Mike, J.R. and Mike Allen dig into the changes Nick Cushing is making to move NYCFC up the table.

This episode is full of post-game audio from Saturday’s Hudson River Derby.

Episode 420:

The criticism might sound too harsh. NYCFC held more of the ball on Saturday at Subaru Park. NYCFC created more goal scoring chances in the game. Together they talk about the new roster moves, the probability of NYCFC making the MLS Cup Playoffs and recap the key moments from Saturday’s loss.

10 Years of NYCFC with Trey Fillmore From Blue Balls Pod / Ep 412 / Blue City Radio

Episode 412:

This is a personal favorite episode for Producer and Host Mike Anderer. It is a favorite because it is an evergreen episode. Yes, there is conversation about the game of the week and some details that will put a virtual timestamp on the episode, but overall this is a broad stroke conversation about NYCFC and the club’s impact on two reporters that have been part of the media landscape since the very beginning.

This week Mike Anderer and J.R. DeBart invite Trey Fillmore from Blue Balls Podcast on as a guest. During the episode the three discuss the recently released stadium renderings, the most current MLS Players Salary data and of course the draw in Orlando, but the most important segment is the dive into the early stages of covering NYCFC. Save this one to your hard drive because it is one you are going to watch over and over. The 2021 MLS season has not been the best for NYCFC. There was Taty’s drought, the team’s drop from second place to eighth, four plus games without scoring a goal, the loss of Tinnerholm and then Parks, the streak of games with yellow cards and red cards and suspensions. All of those collective moments culminated into a thrilling victory and for the first time in club history, a chance to play in the Eastern Conference finals.
