Audi Field Was Impressive, NYCFC, Not So Much / Ep 204 / Blue City Radio

Episode 204:

Here’s a challenge for you.  Attend a soccer match, analyze it, hop into your car and then discuss the game with a friend while driving on a highway for two hours.

That’s what co-host Mike Anderer attempted to accomplish on Sunday evening.  In this week’s episode J.R. deBart handles the hosting duties while Mike weaved his way up the Beltway and through Delaware following NYCFC’s first visit to Audi Field and a road loss to DC United.

This week’s episode includes comments from Alex Ring and at the end of the show an interview with Jonathon Lewis.

The Homegrown, The Still Unknown and the Original Nick Chavez / Ep 198 / Blue City Radio

Episode 198:

This week the guys try something different.  In a week with two games, most listeners would expect a return to our epic 2 hour recap shows with tons of analysis on the play.  Instead Mike and J.R. invite Nick Chavez from the NYCFC Football Podcast to have a conversation about a few key topics surrounding NYCFC.

They discuss Jon Lewis at length, James Sands and Dome Torrent’s tenure and struggles.

It’s not a typical epsiode, but we hope you enjoy it all the same.

Vieira’s Wonderful World of Aah’s / Ep 181 / Blue City Radio

Episode 181:

Patrick Vieira did his best to emulate the magical wizard in the movie classic.  In traditional magician’s style he distracted Orlando with a bizarre alignment that seemingly confused some of the NYCFC players as the team missed passes and was uncoordinated on attack.  They were saved in the first half by the spectacular finish of Tajouri-Shradi and the missed PK by Orlando Captain Sacha Klestjan.

And then, by the stroke of his wand and a spell out an ancient leather-bound text, the real NYCFC was revealed in all it’s 4-3-3 beauty.

Mike, Jon and J. R. take a look at the lineup and decisions by Vieira trying to understand the rationale and the long game by the coach.  We also hear post game clips from Ben Sweat, Alex Ring, Ismael Tajouri-Shradi, Jon Lewis and Sean Johnson.

Villa Gets 400 and 401, But More Importantly NYCFC Get 3 / Ep 171 / Blue City Radio

Episode 171:

David Villa was recently criticized for being a ball hog.  On Sunday April 29, versus FC Dallas, Villa proved his detractors wrong being a distributor and playmaker creating multiple chances for NYCFC and having a key pass on the team’s first goal.

Mike, Mike and J.R. look back at the game and break down the key plays.  Mike also brings back locker room quotes from Alex Ring, Anton Tinnerholm, Jon Lewis, Ben Sweat and Sebastian Ibeagha.

Sands Impresses, Lewis Prepares, NYCFC Draws, and MLS Fantasy Tips / Ep 105 / Blue City Radio

Episode 105:

Mike and Jon waste no time heaping praise on 16 year old James Sands.  While his future with NYCFC for 2017 is unclear, what is certain is that the Academy Player turned potential signing held his own against Ecuadorian powerhouse Emelec.

The guys then break down the keys of last week’s friendly and look at who else showed well and who needs to step up their game.  The conversation on the Emelec game ends with some of the post game interviews, including a special interview with US Ambassador to Ecuador, Tod Chapman.

In the third segment the show switches gears as NYCFC’s first round draft pick Jon Lewis joins Mike for a interview while he prepares with the US U-20 National Team for the World Cup Qualifying Tournament in Costa Rica.

The show closes out with a chat with Mike Denton who gives the guys the expert’s look into MLS Fantasy.  Don’t forget to join the Blue City Radio Fantasy League by using code 9386-1888

Welcome To the Diskerud Show / Ep 102 / Blue City Radio

Episode 102:

NYCFC released the roster of players attending pre-season training in Jacksonville, FL.  Two players not on the list, Mix Diskerud and Josh Saunders.  Both players who are very much foundational pieces of the club’s history were unceremoniously not invited to the team’s training camp.

Jon and Mike talk about the rest of the roster including NYCFC Academy player James Sands, the first academy player to attend a first team camp.

In the second segment, Chris Magalee from NYCFC Nation joins the show to continue the conversation.

Getting Younger, Who’s the Six? / Ep 101 / Blue City Radio

Episode 101

NYCFC has added some new players both through loan deals and the MLS Superdraft.  One position still remains without a clear starter, the Defensive Midfielder.

Mike and Jon discuss the roster changes and look at the philosophy of NYCFC relative to being a younger team.  They also touch on the blockbuster trade that sent Dax McCarty from Red Bull to Chicago.

In the second segment, Bobby Warshaw from Howler Podcast and The Play Podcast joins the guys to talk about the MLS Superdraft, college soccer, and the impact of the number six on a team.

Finally the guys finish up with a discussion on the NYCFC pre-season and the 2017 schedule.
