In the second segment, Benedict Rhodes from Waking the Red joins the guys to help given a northern perspective on TFC and their approach to Wednesday’s Eastern Conference Semi-Final. Bound For Glory / Ep 249 / Blue City Radio

Episode 249:

NYCFC stumbled in New England on Sunday, but that’s nothing new. NYCFC has only one win and one draw in their five previous trips to Gilette Stadium. The 2-0 loss to the would keep NYCFC from earning the first place spot in the eastern conference, but only for a short time as Columbus Crew would pitch in and defeat Philadelphia securing the number one spot and home field for New York up through the MLS Cup Final.

That drama all unfolded in real time as the players watched huddled in the Gilette locker room. This week Mike, Jon and J.R. look at the two games from this week. They look at the implications of NYCFC holding the number one seed and they also share post game interviews from Ronald Matarrita, Sean Johnson, Tony Rocha, Sebastian Ibeagha and Heber.

Battle For New York, Kelly’s Tragic Call / Ep 238 / Blue City Radio

Episode 238:

It is upsetting when the referees, the ones there to maintain control and ensure the laws are the followed, don’t themselves know the laws of the game. That is what happened on Sunday evening in Red Bull Arena as NYCFC fell 2-1 to Red Bull.

This week’s episode kicks off with an interview with filmmakers Gregory Jenkins and Damisi Rosemond. They have been working for years on the project, Battle For New York. Greg and Damisi talk about the inspiration and motivation for the film and the project’s next steps.

In the second segment Justin Egan from Outfield.org joins the show and helps Mike and J.R. unwrap everything that happened in Sunday’s match. There’s also audio post game from Alex Ring and Sean Johnson.

MetomorphosisFC – Ep 231 – Blue City Radio

Episode 231:

NYCFC under Dome Torrent had gone 30 games with 29 different lineups and while injuries, suspensions and international absences were always factors, Torrent’s inability to settle on a system was most influential.

Earlier this seaon, Torrent found his ideal formation for the squad both at home and on the road as the team went on a seven game unbeaten streak after adapting to a 3-4-3 formation that hinged on the play of the new striker, Heber.

This past week versus Chicago all of that success and consistency went out the window as the team quickly adjusted to a 4-3-3 to adapt to the Fire’s attack. This ultimately forced multiple players out of position and NYCFC was lucky enough to steal a point in Bridgeview.

Mike and J.R. welcome CJ Reo to the show to breakdown this week’s underwhelming draw. They also touch base on the USWNT’s preparations for France and discuss the US U20’s as they compete in Poland in the U20 World Cup.

Trois Points Sur La Route / Ep 228 / Blue City Radio

NYCFC began their four game road trip with a dominant performance against a weakened Montreal Impact last Saturday in Stade Saputo. The Boys in Blue continue to demonstrate a more solid understanding of Dome Torrent’s newly adapted system. The team improved both on the attack creating two goals and countless chances while also holding the Impact to zero shots on target.

In this week’s episode Mike, Jon, J.R. and Mike Allen discuss the highlights of the game. They also share some of the listener’s perspectives of NYCFC through the first 10 games of the 2019 season.

There is also post game audio from Sebastian Ibeagha, Sean Johnson, Ben Sweat and Ismael Tajouri-Shradi

Baby, It’s Cold Outside / Ep 225 / Blue City Radio

NYCFC head off to Minnesota to help Minnesota United christen their new stadium. While it might not be intentional, there’s no bigger slap in the face to NYCFC after last week’s field fiasco with the Yankee Stadium infield than to have them play the inaugural game at Allianz Field.

This preview episode features audio clips from Anton Tinnerholm, Juan Pablo Torres, Ismael Tajouri-Shradi and Dome Torrent.

WTF! / Ep 223 / Blue City Radio

Episode 223:

On the bright side NYCFC’s newest player arrived in New York on Friday.  On the negative side, it might not be enough to fix NYCFC’s woes.  It was a game where the team looked devoid of structure and played as individuals.

Mike, Jon, J.R. and Mike Allen look at the game from Friday and because the team played as individuals, they discuss all 13 players and their impact, positive or negative on the outcome.

Anything You Can Do…, Shoulder 2 Shoulder / Ep 220 / Blue City Radio

Episode 220:

Sean Johnson had to come up big for NYCFC in the 2019 Home Opener.  The keeper knotted three saves for the Cityzens as DC United would use their quick passing to create chances.  James Sands made his second straight start helping to stifle the attack of Wayne Rooney and Luciano Acosta.

Mike, Jon and J.R. do their best to get to your questions and frustrations after NYCFC continue to defend well, but cannot find the back of the net.

In the second segment Chris and Christian, the duo behind LAFC podcast, Shoulder2Shoulder join the guys on the Gabila’s Knish hotline to preview the Sunday match up in the Bronx.

Dome Bests Vieira As NYCFC Eliminate the Union / Ep 207 / Blue City Radio

Episode 207:

Credit to Mike Coniaris (a name easier to spell than pronounce) for the title, but the tongue in cheek joke is appropriate.  NYCFC for the first time in club history has won a playoff round.  So in essence, Torrent accomplished something that Vieira failed to do in his two post-season attempts.

This week Mike, J. R. and Nick Chavez break down the game from Halloween night.  They also included the post game comments from Alex Ring, Maxime Chanot, Anton Tinnerholm and Sean Johnson.

And lastly, the guys answer your comments and questions.
