Episode 449:

This weekend was a high-point for NYCFC fans. The team capped off another victory against an Eastern Conference rival, DC United, but more importantly Mayor Adams and Councilman Moya were on hand in CitiField to officially recognize the approval of NYCFC’s soccer specific stadium in Willet’s Point.

The guys this week discuss the plans for the stadium and share some audio from Mayor Adams, NYCFC CEO, Brad Sims and NYCFC COO, Jennifer O’Sullivan.

They also break down the victory against a depleted DC United lineup including audio from Nick Cushing, Mounsef Bakrar, Kevin O’Toole, James Sands, and Keaton Parks.

Mike Anderer and Mike Allen were invited along with several other members of the media into NYCFC’s offices for interviews with Brad Sims ahead of the team’s City In the Community Homecoming Dinner event. The middle segment features two unedited sessions with Brad as he fields questions on numerous topics about the Apple TV partnership, the stadium and the future of NYCFC as a club.

NYCFC celebrated the ribbon cutting of their 50th mini pitch last week with other project partners in China Town. In addition to opening the mini pitch the club and NY City First Lady also announced activation events starting next year as well as an additional 26 sites to be built over the next five years. At the event Mike Anderer sat down with NYCFC CEO, Brad Sims, to get some updates on the club and his thoughts on achieving the goal of 50 in 5 years.

In the second segment Mike and J.R. invite soccer writing legend Michael Lewis to the show to breakdown the exciting game between USA and Mexico from Cincinatti. Yes, I did sing the theme song to WKRP as we drove in from the airport.

In the last segment Mike and J.R. talk with Dawn Birmingham about her first World Cup Qualifier.

A Wake Up Call In DC And Brad Sims / Ep 315 / Blue City Radio

Episode 315:

NYCFC had a strong start to the 2021 Season that lasted all of 25 minutes. After that they looked overmatched as they lost to DC United in the season opener.

This week Mike, J.R. and Mike Allen discuss the game, the reports about the European Super League and some other MLS news.

In the second segment the guys share some audio from Brad Sims as he addressed the media last week ahead of the start of the season.

With the future of the MLS season still in limbo and the likelihood of the games being played behind closed doors, NYCFC and other MLS clubs announced to their season ticket holders that charges for the 2020 season tickets would resume this month.

On the same day, Brad Sims, NYCFC CEO was a guest on Yahoo Finance to discuss the future of the league. Mike, Jon and J.R. share their thoughts on the prospect of games getting played and the message charging fans for games they might never see.

In the second segment Mike chats with Walsall Defender and NYCFC original, Shay Facey. Shay shares his thoughts on MLS, his time with the club and which players he still keeps in touch with after the 2015 season.

The chaos began last Wednesday. Yes, just a week ago things were kind of quiet on the NYCFC front. Then the first report surfaced from Costa Rica. Then there was the fan jersey launch event in midtown. Then there was the NY Times article. Then there was the official announcement on the CCL venue… do you need to hear more?

This week Mike, Jon and JR try to cover all of the drama and they try to get all of the perspectives in one guest-packed show. First up, Carol Martinez from Minervas joins the show to explain the sentiment of the upset fanbase.
