(Insert Witty Title Here) / Ep 447 / Blue City Radio

Episode 447:

This is what we’ve come to. The well is running dry of ideas and excuses as to why New York City FC continues to waffle and struggle. This is no longer an anomaly. This is New York City FC’s identity under Nick Cushing with this current roster. Gone are the promises of turning it around. Gone are the dreams of being near the top of the table. Gone are the multi-goal games and rosters capable of winning Golden Boot honors.

This week Mike Anderer welcomes Adam and Justin from Post90 Podcast to fill in for Mike Allen and J.R. and the pair offer more support to Blue City Radio than Julian Fernandez and Augustin Ojeda have offered to New York City FC.

The trio go over the draw in CitiField that kicks off the five-game homestead for the club.

In the show they share quotes from Nick Cushing, Hannes Wolf, Thiago Martins, James Sands, Keaton Parks and Birk Risa.

Keeping the Status Quo / Ep 417 / Blue City Radio

Episode 417:

Nick Cushing’s haters are growing louder and louder as NYCFC continues to look for the next victory. Now winless in eleven MLS matches and hovering at the bottom of the Eastern Conference table, the team came within three minutes of a victory this past week in Atlanta. The draw from down south was probably one of the clearest moments where the outcome was connected to Cushing’s in-game decisions.

The Boys from the Bronx then flew from Atlanta to Portland and returned to the stadium where they hoisted the MLS Cup back in 2021. It was a match played with resolve as they clawed back a draw after trailing late in the first half.

This week the guys look back at the week’s two matches. They also discuss the question on many fans’ minds, “Is Cushing on the hot seat”?

Advancing Feels So Very Good / Ep 345 / Blue City Radio

Episode 345:

NYCFC wasn’t the best team for the entire game but they were the best team when it counted. The Pigeons came out to a slow start and absorbed some first half pressure by Atlanta. For stretches of the second half it looked like there was only one team on the field.

This week Mike, J.R. and Mike Allen recap the first round win from Yankee Stadium. Then in the second segment Sam Minton from The Bent Musket joins Mike to preview the Conference Semifinal match up against New England.

The guys close out the show with some thoughts of their own on the November 30th game.

NYCFC Are Stuck In Neutral and Jillian Sakovits On All Things Atlanta United / Ep 340 / Blue City Radio

Episode 340:

After a two-week break NYCFC returned to the pitch but the time off did not change anything for the team. They conceded a goal three minutes in and failed to challenge Red Bull aside from two or three chances. Overall it was an extremely disappointing match. Mike, J.R. and Mike Allen do their best to talk each other off the ledge as the likelihood than NYCFC might fail to qualify for the playoffs looms.

In the second segment Jillian Sakovits from MLS’s The Call-Up Podcast and Bally Sports down in Atlanta joins the show. She talks Atlanta United coaching changes, soccer culture in the city and of course some very just do praise for Josef Martinez.

Shradi Too Hotty And the Thiagol! / Ep 324 / Blue City Radio

This week the guys take a look back at the two games and where the team sits just under a third of the way through the 2021 campaign.

Bound For Glory / Ep 249 / Blue City Radio

Episode 249:

NYCFC stumbled in New England on Sunday, but that’s nothing new. NYCFC has only one win and one draw in their five previous trips to Gilette Stadium. The 2-0 loss to the would keep NYCFC from earning the first place spot in the eastern conference, but only for a short time as Columbus Crew would pitch in and defeat Philadelphia securing the number one spot and home field for New York up through the MLS Cup Final.

That drama all unfolded in real time as the players watched huddled in the Gilette locker room. This week Mike, Jon and J.R. look at the two games from this week. They look at the implications of NYCFC holding the number one seed and they also share post game interviews from Ronald Matarrita, Sean Johnson, Tony Rocha, Sebastian Ibeagha and Heber.

Dome-nant and Dome-nated / Ep 242 / Blue City Radio

Episode 242:

NYCFC would play two very different games this week. Thursday evening at home Dome Torrent’s choices and game plan lead to a dominant performance against Houston. Sunday afternoon NYCFC would head south to the comfort a dome stadium in Atlanta and get dominated.

Mike, Jon and J.R. take a look at the two games, both as a unit, and individually. They also include post game comments from Eric Miller, Heber, Alex Ring and Dome Torrent. Lastly, they discuss your comments about the weekly topics.

Dome Bests Vieira As NYCFC Eliminate the Union / Ep 207 / Blue City Radio

Episode 207:

Credit to Mike Coniaris (a name easier to spell than pronounce) for the title, but the tongue in cheek joke is appropriate.  NYCFC for the first time in club history has won a playoff round.  So in essence, Torrent accomplished something that Vieira failed to do in his two post-season attempts.

This week Mike, J. R. and Nick Chavez break down the game from Halloween night.  They also included the post game comments from Alex Ring, Maxime Chanot, Anton Tinnerholm and Sean Johnson.

And lastly, the guys answer your comments and questions.

L – D – L – W / Ep 182 / Blue City Radio

Episode 182:

NYCFC started off the week with another miserable performance in the US Open Cup.  Patrick Vieira threw out what ever lineup he could conjure with the limited number eligible players.  The bright spots were the first start for Jon Lewis, the first 2018 appearance for James Sands and the first team debut of 15 year old Joe Scally.

NYCFC would draw Atlanta United on the weekend 1-1 at Yankee Stadium despite peppering Brad Guzan with 25 shots, 10 of them on target.

The next loss would be the biggest, the departure of head coach Patrick Vieira.  After weeks of speculation and rumors and denials, the official announcement was made that Vieira would be taking over for Nice.

The next move while technically an unknown, should be considered a win.  NYCFC shortly after making Vieira’s departure official would name Domenec Torrent as the new head coach.

Dylan Butler from MLSSoccer.com and ProSoccerUSA joins the show to discuss Vieira’s legacy and the impact on NYCFC.
