Au Revoir, Montreal / Ep 386 / Blue City Radio

Episode 386:

NYCFC become only the second American team to travel to Canada in the MLS Cup Playoffs to earn the victory. On Sunday the Pigeons flew north of the border and easily defeated CF Montreal in front of their home fans. Similar to Decision Day, it was a costly victory. Three players suffered injuries and it was only because of a lack of subs that Talles Magno was forced to hobble around the center circle in the waning minutes of the match.

This week Mike, J.R. and Mike Allen welcome back Adam and Justin from the Post 90 Podcast to get into the key moments of the victory and the guys all give their thoughts on the Eastern Conference Final rematch coming up this Sunday in Chester.

Taking Care Of Orlando and a Chat With Kevin O’Toole / Ep 383 / Blue City Radio

Episode 383:

NYCFC came out a little sloppy looking after their two week break. A close call took away a potential first half lead. Then the Boys In Blue would let one sneak in on a long throw set piece.

But Nick Cushing has found the magic for this team and two 60th minute subs would be enough to get the victory and leapfrog into third place in the Eastern Conference.

This week Mike, J.R. and Mike Allen take a look at the action from Sunday in Red Bull Arena, then in the second segment they are joined by NYCFC defender, Kevin O’Toole (@ktooleszn) to discuss his path to MLS and how MLS Next Pro has helped him prepare for first team minutes.

The guys spend a few minutes at the end to address the USMNT friendlies from last week and the damning report released by US Soccer on the allegations of rampant sexual misconduct in women’s professional soccer.

Righting the Ship (Hopefully) / Ep 378 / Blue City Radio

Episode 378:

NYCFC faced two relatively weaker opponents last week, but based on the results you would not have known that. The pigeons dropped three home points at Red Bull Arena against debutantes Charlotte FC, but luckily shook off that performance and stole three points from the Chicago Fire on the weekend.

It was a week of poor midfield defending from both NYCFC and their opponents.

The guys take a quick look at each game and then discuss the newest signing off waivers.

The Fort Lauderdale Fracas / Ep 377 / Blue City Radio

Episode 377:

The sparks were flying down in Florida and not all in a good way for NYCFC. The boys in blue jumped out to another lead in this match but similar to the previous match in Columbus, mistakes would cost NYCFC all three points.

This week the guys look at the bad and the ugly from this match. They also breakdown Nick Cushing’s choices through out the match and his comments post-game.

They also discuss the fragmenting of the fanbase and look ahead at the upcoming match against Charlotte.

The Learning Curve Take 4.5 / Ep 376 / Blue City Radio

Episode 376:

The Columbus Crew are always a challenging opponent for NYCFC. This year the Crew have one of their strongest rosters in years and NYCFC and interim head coach, Nick Cushing, are still wading through the post-Taty waters. It was a recipe for disappointment and Saturday’s match lived up to its billing.

The guys take a deep dive into the letdowns and missed opportunities from the 3-2 loss. Then they do their best to look ahead at the final games of the season and discuss who they feel Cushing should play for key matches.

A Rough Start For Cushing / Ep 370 / Blue City Radio

Episode 370:

NYCFC had two of it’s toughest games this week and the Pigeons fell in both. Yes, there was controversy in both matches, but NYCFC has risen above it in the past. This week their resolve was not enough.

Mike and Mike Allen welcome Christian Smith to the show as the three discuss the results from Wednesday and Sunday. There’s also post game audio from Nick Cushing, Alfredo Morales and Maxime Chanot.

Cushing’s Debut / Ep 369 / Blue City Radio

Episode 369:

The moment finally arrived, the start of the Cushing Era began this week with NYCFC hosting Colorado on Father’s Day. The team played to an uninspiring 1-1 draw.

This week Mike, J.R. and Mike Allen break down the match. They also share postgame quotes from Anton Tinnerholm, Alfredo Morales, Tayvon Gray, Gedion Zelalem and Alexander Callens.

Inconsistency At Its Best / Ep 338 / Blue City Radio

Episode 338:

NYCFC went from one of the best teams in the league to a midtable bubble team all in the span of 30 days and seven games. Seven games that would see the team capture only five of 21 points.

NYCFC players, coaches and supporters could not welcome the most recent international break soon enough.

This week Mike and J.R. welcome long time NYCFC podcaster, Trey Fillmore to the show to discuss the September swoon of the boys in blue.

A Pattern Against Red Bull / Ep 337 / Blue City Radio

Episode 337:

This week Ronny Deila quipped that in the previous three meetings between NYCFC and Red Bull at Red Bull Arena the referees erred in favor of Red Bull and took points away from NYCFC. Behavioral specialists all agree that seeing three acts is enough to demonstrate a pattern.

The question entering Saturday’s match was how NYCFC would respond. The answer unfortunately was not good.

This week Mike, J.R. and Mike Allen discuss the two games from Derby Week and include audio from Ronny Deila, Sean Johnson and Anton Tinnerholm.

Six Goals = Six Points / Ep 328 / Blue City Radio

Episode 328:

It is an odd time in the history of when NYCFC when the team earns six points from two teams ahead of them in the standings and the fan focus is not on the results but on the delays around the stadium and the mishandling of Season Ticket holders by the Front Office.

This week the guys continue their discussion following the Town Halls held by the club and the plea by Ian Joy for support in local politics for the stadium.

Then they talk about the two games from last week and a little of chatter about the USMNT as they continue their run in the Gold Cup
