Ian Joy A-Palooza / Ep 314 / Blue City Radio

Episode 314:

NYCFC starts their seventh season this Saturday down in Washington, D.C. Before Ian Joy becomes an extremely busy man calling 29 games for the club on the Yes Network he offered to come on the show to share his opinions on NYCFC, it’s supporters and players both past, present and future.

It is a great interview for fans of NYCFC but also for sports fans and people in general. There are very few that can share their pure enthusiasm and zest for life as well as Ian. We truly hope you enjoy this conversation.

While he wasn’t perfect, he was the Captain for NYCFC when they finished first in the Eastern Conference in 2019. Alex Ring departs the club with one of the best careers of all the players that wore the badge representing New York. His grit and determination will be missed both on the field and in the locker room.

This week Mike, J.R. and Mike Allen look back at the midfielder’s career and also discuss what David Lee and company need to do in the offseason to justify this move.

In the second segment the guys have a brief conversation about the loss to Tigres in CCL.

Episode 301:

NYCFC travelled up to East Hartford to face Toronto FC on Wednesday defeating them 1-0. Then the team would return to Yankee Stadium on Sunday to host rivals, Red Bull and in a commanding performance, beat them 5-2.

This week Mike, Jon, J.R. and Mike Allen look at the action from the past week. The guys also take a peak ahead at December and NYCFC’s return to international play for CCL.

Mitri Making Waves, Plus Some Stadium Updates With Chris Campbell / Ep 297 / Blue City Radio

Episode 297:

NYCFC took another early lead on Saturday down in Florida. A fourth minute volley from Alexandru Mitrita started off a thrilling first half in a game where the club would need all of its five subs to hold on to the victory.

This week Mike, Jon, J.R. and Mike Allen discuss the key points of this road victory.

Then they invite Chris Campbell (@SoupInNYC2) to the show to get his opinion of the game. Chris also fills the listeners in on the most recent stadium news from The Outfield.org.

In the last segment Mike, J.R and Chris discuss the wild rumors surrounding Designated Player, Alexandru Mitrita, following his departure from the club for International Duty with Romania.

Deila’s Soft Underbelly / Ep 295 / Blue City Radio

Episode 295:

For the second time in three weeks NYCFC traveled up to Gilette Stadium to face the New England Revolution. In the first game a relatively fit NYCFC squad grabbed all three points with a 2-0 victory. The second trip would be much more difficult. Injuries to some key starters as well as a yellow card suspension meant the starting XI for Ronny Deila would be very different.

So was the result. NYCFC still created chances, but they were unable to convert any of them. On the opposite side of the field, New England would three times put the ball in the back of the net, but all three times from offside positions. In addition, Sean Johnson would be forced to make seven saves.

This week Mike, J.R. and Mike Allen break down the New England game and then take a look at a Ronny Deila with the help of a clip from Jake Beckhard of Blue Balls Podcast.

NYCFC looked like a completely different team in their 3-1 victory over Toronto in their first knockout round game of MLSIsBack. Sadly for NYCFC fans, they resorted back to their old predictable stagnant ways this week versus Portland.

NYCFC finally earned their first victory of the MLS 2020 Season taking advantage of a struggling Inter Miami FC team.

While not in control of their own destiny the team still currently has a 43% chance of advancing into the knockout rounds of the MLSisBack tournament.
