Dome Bests Vieira As NYCFC Eliminate the Union / Ep 207 / Blue City Radio

Episode 207:

Credit to Mike Coniaris (a name easier to spell than pronounce) for the title, but the tongue in cheek joke is appropriate.  NYCFC for the first time in club history has won a playoff round.  So in essence, Torrent accomplished something that Vieira failed to do in his two post-season attempts.

This week Mike, J. R. and Nick Chavez break down the game from Halloween night.  They also included the post game comments from Alex Ring, Maxime Chanot, Anton Tinnerholm and Sean Johnson.

And lastly, the guys answer your comments and questions.

Ugly Wins Count the Same As Pretty Ones / Ep 187 / Blue City Radio

Episode 187:

NYCFC took the fight to Red Bull in Yankee Stadium on Sunday night.  It wasn’t a typical NYCFC match, but it was good enough for the victory and that was enough to satisfy the players, the coach and the supporters.

This week Mike, Mike Allen and J.R. are joined by John Harbour (@themaninseat9) of Watertower FC as they discuss the sloppy, gritty win in a critical battle for second place in the Eastern Conference.

We also have post game audio from Ben Sweat, Alex Ring, Anton Tinnerholm, Rodney Wallace and Ismael Tajouri-Shradi.

Welcome Dome, Now Beat the Red Bulls / Ep 186 / Blue City Radio

Episode 186:

NYCFC are 9-4-4 through the first half of the season.  It’s been a chaotic last few weeks in and around the club with the departure of Patrick Vieira and the arrival of Dome Torrent.  NYCFC took once again to the streets of New York City, specifically to the iconic Rockefeller Plaza in a partnership with Telemundo to bring fans a unique watch party experience.  To highlight that activation NYCFC held two media events on the mini-pitch at the plaza.  The first was Tuesday with players: Alex Callens, Jesus Medina, Alex Ring, Sean Johnson, and Rodney Wallace.  The second was with new Head Coach Domenec Torrent.

Enjoy this week’s preview episode.

Slow and Steady Wins the Race, Not the Game / Ep 169 / Blue City Radio

Episode 169:

There are so many cliches to describe this moment, but listing them all would take more effort than worth contributing to describe the mess of a game NYCFC played in Portland.  The hottest team in the league looked like a shell of itself.  The badge on the jerseys was the same, but only a handful of NYCFC players resembled the names on the back.

Mike Anderer, Mike Allen  and J.R. deBart take a broad look at the impact of the loss and some of the key plays from Sunday.  We also hear Patrick Vieira and Sean Johnson following the match.

The Captain Returns / Ep 167 / Blue City Radio

Episode 167:

Add Mercedes Benz Arena to your list of “Must Visit Soccer Venues in the US”.  It’s as simple as that.  From the facility, to the affordable concessions, to the constant sell-outs there is so much to love about MBS. Luckily for NYCFC, the venue did not intimidate and the visitors left with a solid 2-2 draw retaining their undefeated record.

Mike, J.R. and Mike Allen break down the game and discuss all the key plays.  We also have quotes from Sean Johnson, Jo Inge Berget, David Villa and Alex Ring.

We Love LA, Rev’s Preview and Looking Back at Dropped Points / Ep 131 / Blue City Radio

Episode 131:

I hope the NYCFC team staff bottled some of the water from the hotel the team stayed at during their extended trip to LA, because whatever was in it made Sean Johnson invincible.

Yes, the LA Galaxy have struggled in Stub Hub Center.  Yes, LA only put five of their 21 shots on target. But, those five were quality chances and Johnson came up big in every chance.

Mike and Jon discuss the team’s victory on the west coast and how Patrick Vieira will have to fill the void left by Alex Ring who will miss Sunday’s match for Yellow Card accumulation.

In the second segment Matt Puglise from Six States One Pod joins Mike to discuss the upcoming match as the New England Revolution come to town.

Dropping a Duece, Fire On the Horizon / Ep 127 / Blue City Radio

Episode 127:

NYCFC once again conceded early, once again equalized and gained a lead, but what is becoming far too often a talking point, Patrick Vieira made odd choices with his substitutions and NYCFC dropped the points.

In this week’s episode Mike and Jon break down the game and sprinkle in some post-game comments.

The second segment welcomes back Fire Confidential’s Guillermo Rivera as he joins the show to give his insight into the Chicago Fire and their historic turn-around.

Valuable Misses, Charlie Boehm and USMNT WC Qualifiers / Ep 110 / Blue City Radio

Episode 110:

NYCFC had four key misses in their home game versus Montreal on Saturday. Those missed chances cost the club 2 points as Montreal drew NYCFC 1-1.  Mike and Jon discuss the game and some of the post game comments from some of the key players.

In the second segment the guys are joined by Charlie Boehm from Four Four Two and SoccerWire.com.  They talk about what it takes to succeed in Yankee Stadium and touch on the USMNT.

Bye Frank, Hello Sean and Ugo, Bienvenidos a Guayaquil / Ep 104 / Blue City Radio

Episode 104:

If you thought our 100th episode was crazy, wait until you listen to this.  Mike is on location in Ecuador, Jon is in a mood over not being able to enjoy Twitter and Super Frank announced his retirement.

Mike interviews two of NYCFC’s newest players, Sean Johnson and Ugo (Don’t call him Sean) Okoli following the team’s open session in Stadio Capwell in Ecuador.

The guys get back together to discuss the USAvJAM and other news in NYCFC as well as a discussion on stadium news.

Episode 100 Is 100% Fun! / Ep 100 / Blue City Radio

Episode 100

Recorded live from Ryan’s Daughter, the 100th episode is a loose and fun look at the MLS Cup and NYCFC’s 2016 season.  Mike and Jon were joined by Martin Bihl of Last Word on Sports and Nick Chavez from Soccer Newsday and some great fans to talk NYCFC.

Together the guys look at the highs and lows of 2016.  They also talk about the new acquisitions, the two Seans.

They also take advantage of the fans that came out and get their thoughts on the team.

We look forward to seeing all of you at next year’s event and during the 2017 season.  The next episode will be out right around MLS Superdraft.  From Jon and Mike, thanks to all of the listeners.  This has been a great year of podcasting for us and we are both so humbled by your enjoyment of the show.  Thanks to the guests.  It means so much to us that you take time out of your schedules to call in to the show.  Last but not least, thanks to the club, team staff and players.  None of this would be possible without the partnership.  It is greatly appreciated.
