Episode 350:

The new year is upon us and with it comes change. MLS teams have all started the task of rebuilding their rosters for the new season and the biggest story of them all is the potential signing of Lorenzo Insigne from Napoli to Toronto.

Putting A Bow on 2021 With Joe Tolleson / Ep 349 / Blue City Radio

The celebrations are finished. The roster turnover has officially begun. It’s time for the guys to hang up the microphones for the rest of 2021. It has been a great year for NYCFC and the seventh season of Blue City Radio ends with a visit from the Yes Network play-by-play commentator, Joe Tolleson.

Episode 346:

There cannot be enough said or written about the emotions from Tuesday night’s game in Gillette Stadium. NYCFC fans travelled close to a thousand strong to visit the home of MLS Supporter Shield winners, The New England Revolution and witnessed an instant classic.

Save this one to your hard drive because it is one you are going to watch over and over. The 2021 MLS season has not been the best for NYCFC. There was Taty’s drought, the team’s drop from second place to eighth, four plus games without scoring a goal, the loss of Tinnerholm and then Parks, the streak of games with yellow cards and red cards and suspensions. All of those collective moments culminated into a thrilling victory and for the first time in club history, a chance to play in the Eastern Conference finals.

This week Mike an Mike Allen welcome Chris Campbell from the Outfield to the program to discuss the semifinal game.

In the second segment Matt Ralph of The Brotherly Game joins to guys to give us his insights on Jim Curtain’s Union squad.

Advancing Feels So Very Good / Ep 345 / Blue City Radio

Episode 345:

NYCFC wasn’t the best team for the entire game but they were the best team when it counted. The Pigeons came out to a slow start and absorbed some first half pressure by Atlanta. For stretches of the second half it looked like there was only one team on the field.

This week Mike, J.R. and Mike Allen recap the first round win from Yankee Stadium. Then in the second segment Sam Minton from The Bent Musket joins Mike to preview the Conference Semifinal match up against New England.

The guys close out the show with some thoughts of their own on the November 30th game.

NYCFC didn’t beat the Philadelphia Union on Sunday in Yankee Stadium but the way the game played out and the emotions after felt like a victory to both the fans and the players.

Mike, J.R. and Mike Allen look back at the 1-1 draw and break down the key moments and performances.

In the second segment the guys discuss the recent interview that Brad Sims did with Glenn Crooks and Roberto Abromowitz.

Will Heber Return and Tyler Kern Previews FC Dallas / Ep 335 / Blue City Radio

So much exciting soccer happening, but not for NYCFC.

The USMNT rebounded after going down a goal in Honduras and scored four unanswered heavily supported by the effort of FC Dallas striker Ricardo Pepi. The victory is the first for the US in the most recent round of World Cup qualifying.

This week Mike, J.R. and Mike Allen discuss the keys from that game and then welcome Tyler Kern from FC Dallas radio to give us some insight into the player and the rest of the squad.

After previewing the opponent for Tuesday, the guys recap the most recent loss for NYCFC as they dropped all three points to league leaders, New England Revolution.

Ending The Rev’s Streak / Ep 333 / Blue City Radio

Episode 333:

It wasn’t Bruce Arena’s strongest lineup but NYCFC still had a difficult task ahead of them on Saturday night. New England had been without Carlos Gil for three weeks already but continued on a 9-game unbeaten streak coming into Yankee Stadium.

Deila and his team proved to be a formidable opponent holding the Rev’s to only one shot on target while Taty Castellanos with the help of Maxi Moralez would get two past MLS All-Star keeper Matt Turner.

This week Kevin Nelson from the Outfield joins Mike and J.R. to take a deep dive into the victory.

In the second segment Valair Shabilla from Pharmaceutical Soccer joins the show to give the guys some insight into Nashville FC.

PK Disaster and Miami Dominance / Ep 331 / Blue City Radio

Episode 331:

While the League’s Cup might not have been the most important tournament for NYCFC but their performance in the game exposed a flaw in the team that has yet to be corrected.

NYCFC lost in penalties to Pumas on Wednesday night eliminating them from the tournament. The team bounced back on Saturday with a commanding victory over Phil Neville’s Inter Miami squad.

This week Mike and Mike Allen discuss those two games and look ahead at this week’s games versus Philadelphia Union and Red Bull.

Jordan Angeli Makes the Columbus Loss Sufferable / Ep 320 / Blue City Radio

For NYCFC fans the 2-1 loss to reigning MLS Cup Champions, Columbus Crew, was brutal. Two late goals by Columbus’s DP forward, Lucas Zelerayan, were like daggers to the hearts of the fans both at home and those that travelled to Red Bull Arena.

NYCFC took advantage of a tired and undisciplined Philadelphia Union side on Saturday and earned another important three points in the early MLS season.

Goals by Jesus Medina and Taty Castellanos secured the victory, but it was also another great defensive performance as the club held Philly to zero shots on target.
