The Armchair Analyst and a Juggling Act Versus Philly / Ep 250 / Blue City Radio

Episode 250:

NYCFC’s season finale didn’t go as planned in Chester, PA. The plan was to finish the season strong and healthy. While the Boys In Blue earned the three points defeating the Union 2-1, they suffered injuries to Heber and Ismael Tajouri-Shradi along the way. Luckily, Dome and the training staff have 17 days to get the team fully fit before their first post season game on October 23.

This week Mike, Jon and J.R. look at the Philly game and some of the key moments. In the second segment, Matt Doyle from MLS Soccer joins the show to share his insights into the strengths and weaknesses of the leaders in the east and doubles down on his theory that NYCFC’s biggest threat to MLS Cup could be Toronto.

A Brace For Taty / Ep 236 / Blue City Radio

Episode 236:

NYCFC welcomed first place Philadelphia Union to Yankee Stadium last week. Dome Torrent chose a defensive plan to face the potent Union attack and that plan failed early. Lucky for NYCFC, Torrent also had a back up plan, go back to the formation that has been working for the team for the past eight games.

Mike, Jon and J.R. take a look at the game from Saturday and discuss the key plays. They also share some audio from Keaton Parks, Sebastian Ibeagha, Brad Stuver and Ben Sweat.

Dome Bests Vieira As NYCFC Eliminate the Union / Ep 207 / Blue City Radio

Episode 207:

Credit to Mike Coniaris (a name easier to spell than pronounce) for the title, but the tongue in cheek joke is appropriate.  NYCFC for the first time in club history has won a playoff round.  So in essence, Torrent accomplished something that Vieira failed to do in his two post-season attempts.

This week Mike, J. R. and Nick Chavez break down the game from Halloween night.  They also included the post game comments from Alex Ring, Maxime Chanot, Anton Tinnerholm and Sean Johnson.

And lastly, the guys answer your comments and questions.

NYCFC Gonna NYCFC and Dome Gonna Dome / Ep 206 / Blue City Radio

Episode 206:

NYCFC played their best game in well over two months and possibly longer.  The team played as a unit for the first time in a long time and from that NYCFC supporters should feel more confident heading into the Audi MLS Cup Playoffs. But many are also still baffled by some of the decisions of Head Coach Domenec Torrent.  On Sunday Torrent took off one of his key players for precautionary medical reasons and replaced him with a player that is still an enigma.

This week Mike and J.R. welcome Roddy Russell, Jr from NYCFC Nation to the show to discuss the Decision Day match and breakdown the key plays.

We also hear post game comments from Alex Ring and David Villa.

Attitude Is Everything / Ep 205 / Blue City Radio

Episode 205:

One thing that NYCFC has succeeded in accomplishing is the identity of a team that finishes the regular season poorly.  That has not translated into Post-season success.  Dome Torrent hopes that his team can turn around the narrative as they face off against Philadelphia Union on Decision Day.

This week’s preview episode includes interviews with Anton Tinnerholm and Dome Torrent.

Episode 195:

In front of 521 Traveling Supporters NYCFC came out and crumbled in the second half of their match versus Philadelphia losing 2-0 in a heated physical battle.  Defender Ronald Matarrita would allow emotions to overflow with a foolish tackle to close out the game adding insult to injury.

Now the suspended player will join the injured Alex Callens and Jesus Medina on the sidelines leaving NYCFC with just 17 field players available for selection for Wednesday’s match versus Red Bull.

Mike and J.R. welcome Trey Fillmore from Blue Balls Podcast to discuss the game.
