Episode 173:

It took 4 minutes for NYCFC to lose on Saturday.  Some say it took even less.  Sadly, NYCFC fans would have to suffer through another 92 minutes of the game.  While the banter was heated leading into this match as usual, Red Bull stunned NYCFC and quieted their fans early.

Anthony Merced, the newest Dude In Blue, joins the show to discuss his recap and defends his case against our resident geography guru, J.R. deBart.

It was a bad performance by NYCFC, we hope our episode was less painful, but similar to Saturday, you might have to wait for the second half to find the bright spots.

Enter Villa, Enter Ring, The Curse of Kreis Ends / Ep 166 / Blue City Radio

Epsiode 166:

NYCFC had yet to earn a point in three previous meetings versus Real Salt Lake.  Maybe it was the Curse of Kreis or just bad timing schedule wise, but Wednesday’s match up had all the characteristics for another let down against RSL.

This however is not the NYCFC from 2015, this is what Mike Petke called a “superior team.”  With goals from the team leading scorers, Shradi and Moralez and goals from the newcomers, Berget and Ofori NYCFC dominated Real Salt Lake in a thrilling 4-0 final.  The icing on the cake was for Patrick Vieira to be able to comfortably add David Villa and Alex Ring to the line up as late subs to prepare them for Sunday’s match at Atlanta.

Mike, J.R. and Mike Allen break down the game and we have post game audio from Anton Tinnerholm, Ronald Matarrita and Ebe Ofori.

Winning Without El Capitan, Kiera Smith on NYCFC and Mata Suffers a Setback / Ep 161 / Blue City Radio

Some fans were already on their way to the stadium when the news broke that David Villa and Anton Tinnerholm were late scratches to NYCFC line-up.  Neither player were seen at training earlier in the week, but the hopes were that they would be fit by game time.  In previous years this news would rattle the NYCFC faithful, but with the creative play of new DP Jesus Medina and the promise of seeing a longer run out by Ismael Tajouri-Shradi there was still hope in their hearts.

Mike and J.R. welcome Kiera Smith from MLS Female to  the show as the trio breakdown  the key plays of Saturday’s matchup.

In the second segment Mike and Jon welcome San Antonio FC head coach, Darren Powell, to discuss NYCFC and their USL affiliation.
