An Uphill Climb / Ep 360 / Blue City Radio

Episode 360:

NYCFC played well last Wednesday in Seattle, but still left the west coast down 3-1 heading into this week’s second leg of the CCL semifinals. The challenge is tough, but not insurmountable.

This week the guys break down the first leg game against the Sounders, they talk about the momentum leading into the “home leg” and discuss predictive lineups for Ronny Deila.

Episode 358:

NYCFC knew they had a tall task ahead of them hosting Philadelphia at Yankee Stadium on Saturday. The Pigeons were one game away from a much needed rest after the whirlwind preseason and Champions League run. Philadelphia came in hoping to avenge the playoff loss the previous year.

This week the guys give their thoughts on a poor game, but also look that the bright spots of the match. Then they discuss the look ahead at the inaugural NYCFC II season and some crucial World Cup Qualifiers for the USMNT.

Chicharito Steals Three Points In LA / Ep 355 / Blue City Radio

Episode 355:

NYCFC did not play it’s best game yet still was minutes away from escaping LA with a point. The pigeons had overcome some questionable calls by referee Joe Dickerson to reach the 90th minute level, but a Keaton Parks error would leave the Galaxy a golden opportunity and they capitalized.

This week the guys discuss the opening week loss and the Champions league victory that helped them advance to the quarterfinals.

Excuse Me Sir, I think You Dropped Your Shield / Ep 346 / Blue City Radio

Episode 346:

There cannot be enough said or written about the emotions from Tuesday night’s game in Gillette Stadium. NYCFC fans travelled close to a thousand strong to visit the home of MLS Supporter Shield winners, The New England Revolution and witnessed an instant classic.

Save this one to your hard drive because it is one you are going to watch over and over. The 2021 MLS season has not been the best for NYCFC. There was Taty’s drought, the team’s drop from second place to eighth, four plus games without scoring a goal, the loss of Tinnerholm and then Parks, the streak of games with yellow cards and red cards and suspensions. All of those collective moments culminated into a thrilling victory and for the first time in club history, a chance to play in the Eastern Conference finals.

This week Mike an Mike Allen welcome Chris Campbell from the Outfield to the program to discuss the semifinal game.

In the second segment Matt Ralph of The Brotherly Game joins to guys to give us his insights on Jim Curtain’s Union squad.

NYCFC Are Stuck In Neutral and Jillian Sakovits On All Things Atlanta United / Ep 340 / Blue City Radio

Episode 340:

After a two-week break NYCFC returned to the pitch but the time off did not change anything for the team. They conceded a goal three minutes in and failed to challenge Red Bull aside from two or three chances. Overall it was an extremely disappointing match. Mike, J.R. and Mike Allen do their best to talk each other off the ledge as the likelihood than NYCFC might fail to qualify for the playoffs looms.

In the second segment Jillian Sakovits from MLS’s The Call-Up Podcast and Bally Sports down in Atlanta joins the show. She talks Atlanta United coaching changes, soccer culture in the city and of course some very just do praise for Josef Martinez.

Spending the International Break With Malte Amundsen / Ep 339 / Blue City Radio

Episode 339:

NYCFC is taking a much needed break after a depressing run in September. The team and the fans can only hope that with the turning of the calendar that the results improve.

This week Mike, J.R. and Mike Allen discuss the USMNT results in the Octagonal qualifiers and the update on Anton Tinnerholm.

In the second segment the guys welcome NYCFC defender, Malte Amundsen, to the show to find out how the Dane is settling into NYC.

Lastly, the guys look ahead and try to predict the last six games of the season.

Inconsistency At Its Best / Ep 338 / Blue City Radio

Episode 338:

NYCFC went from one of the best teams in the league to a midtable bubble team all in the span of 30 days and seven games. Seven games that would see the team capture only five of 21 points.

NYCFC players, coaches and supporters could not welcome the most recent international break soon enough.

This week Mike and J.R. welcome long time NYCFC podcaster, Trey Fillmore to the show to discuss the September swoon of the boys in blue.

Ending The Rev’s Streak / Ep 333 / Blue City Radio

Episode 333:

It wasn’t Bruce Arena’s strongest lineup but NYCFC still had a difficult task ahead of them on Saturday night. New England had been without Carlos Gil for three weeks already but continued on a 9-game unbeaten streak coming into Yankee Stadium.

Deila and his team proved to be a formidable opponent holding the Rev’s to only one shot on target while Taty Castellanos with the help of Maxi Moralez would get two past MLS All-Star keeper Matt Turner.

This week Kevin Nelson from the Outfield joins Mike and J.R. to take a deep dive into the victory.

In the second segment Valair Shabilla from Pharmaceutical Soccer joins the show to give the guys some insight into Nashville FC.

Expected Goals Does Not Translate Into An Expected Win / Ep 327 / Blue City Radio

Episode 327:

NYCFC played another game where they dominated the opponent in every category except goals scored. The boys in the blue would fail to finish a slew of chances in front of the Columbus net.

Mike and Mike Allen breakown the game. They share audio clips from Ronny Deila and Anton Tinnerholm. J.R. Debart was in attendance on Saturday so he shares his opinion on the stadium experience first hand.

In the second segment the guys discuss more of the USMNT performance at the Gold Cup and the heaps of praise being showered on NYCFC defender James Sands.

The show ends with a discussion long overdue as the guys express their displeasure with the NYCFC Front Office and their handling of Season Tickets for the remainder of the 2021 season.

Winning Without El Capitan, Kiera Smith on NYCFC and Mata Suffers a Setback / Ep 161 / Blue City Radio

Epsiode 161:

Some fans were already on their way to the stadium when the news broke that David Villa and Anton Tinnerholm were late scratches to NYCFC line-up.  Neither player were seen at training earlier in the week, but the hopes were that they would be fit by game time.  In previous years this news would rattle the NYCFC faithful, but with the creative play of new DP Jesus Medina and the promise of seeing a longer run out by Ismael Tajouri-Shradi there was still hope in their hearts.

Mike and J.R. welcome Kiera Smith from MLS Female to  the show as the trio breakdown  the key plays of Saturday’s matchup.
