Dome-nant and Dome-nated / Ep 242 / Blue City Radio

Episode 242:

NYCFC would play two very different games this week. Thursday evening at home Dome Torrent’s choices and game plan lead to a dominant performance against Houston. Sunday afternoon NYCFC would head south to the comfort a dome stadium in Atlanta and get dominated.

Mike, Jon and J.R. take a look at the two games, both as a unit, and individually. They also include post game comments from Eric Miller, Heber, Alex Ring and Dome Torrent. Lastly, they discuss your comments about the weekly topics.

Burn the Tape / Ep 241 / Blue City Radio

Episode 241:

NYCFC once again failed to beat Real Salt Lake despite taking an early lead. Does this sound like 2017 all over again? It wasn’t Ugo Okoli getting the fourth minute goal this time, but rather captain Alex Ring with a left-footed laser past Nick Rimondo. Unfortunately for NYCFC, Ring would lead the team in shots as the rest of the offense struggled to get much else going against the stingy home defense.

Meanwhile in the midfield…

Let’s face it, NYCFC did not have much midfield play. The team looked over run in the middle third and bereft of solutions. This week Mike, Jon, J.R. and Mike Allen look at the errors and miscues in another lackluster performance against RSL. They also look at the poor history NYCFC has in the month of August.

The Captain Steals the Show / Ep 240 / Blue City Radio

Episode 240:

NYCFC disposed of another western conference opponent this week defeating Sporting KC 3-1 at Yankee Stadium.

This week Mike, Jon and J.R. take a look at NYCFC’s midfield as Alex Ring shifted roles and took control of the game for the home side.

We also hear from Anton Tinnerholm, Sean Johnson and Alex Ring post game.

For the last segment, Mike heads up to CFA and hears from Heber and Head Coach Domenec Torrent.

Battle For New York, Kelly’s Tragic Call / Ep 238 / Blue City Radio

Episode 238:

It is upsetting when the referees, the ones there to maintain control and ensure the laws are the followed, don’t themselves know the laws of the game. That is what happened on Sunday evening in Red Bull Arena as NYCFC fell 2-1 to Red Bull.

This week’s episode kicks off with an interview with filmmakers Gregory Jenkins and Damisi Rosemond. They have been working for years on the project, Battle For New York. Greg and Damisi talk about the inspiration and motivation for the film and the project’s next steps.

In the second segment Justin Egan from Outfield.org joins the show and helps Mike and J.R. unwrap everything that happened in Sunday’s match. There’s also audio post game from Alex Ring and Sean Johnson.

Thank You Zlatan For the 3 Points / Ep 229 / Blue City Radio

Episode 229:

This week NYCFC continued its month long road trip with a journey to LA and that trip came at just the right time as the Galaxy have been struggling to find their early season mojo. The LA squad was also playing their second game this week after losing 3-1 away at Columbus.

Mike, Jon and J.R. are joined by Ivan (@110by70) to discuss the key plays from Saturday. They also look at what the new formation does to NYCFC’s depth as they move toward the dog days of summer and the schedule congested end of the season.

In the final segment the guys respond to the listeners’ first trimester grades for the club.

Three Goals, One Point / Ep 226 / Blue City Radio

Episode 226:

Minnesota United is living large. Their new building, Allianz Field is stunning. The 19,000 plus stadium is pure eye candy. It is a short train ride from the heart of downtown. It sits on the side of an interstate. 96 tap bar, need I say more?

Luckily for NYCFC fans, the team played their best offensive game of the season. Taty Castellanos scored the first for the away team and Ismael Tajouri-Shradi followed it up with a brace, giving NYCFC the much needed point.

Mike and J.R. welcome Chris Jee from The Outfield to break down this game. The guys also listen to post game audio from Dome Torrent, James Sands, Sean Johnson and Alex Ring.

Night Sweats and a Pair of Tens / Ep 219 / Blue City Radio

Episode 219:

The 2019 MLS Season is upon us.  NYCFC took to Orlando and much like the 2015 season, they took a lead and conceded late to settle for a draw.  This year the team is lead by midfielder captain, Alex Ring.  It is obvious that the team still needs to iron out some wrinkles, but one thing was proven on Saturday, Alexandru Mitrita is the real deal and will be a very fun player to watch in 2019.

Mike, Jon, J.R. and Mike Allen talk about the news of the week, recap the match in Orlando and look ahead to this weekend’s Home Opener.

Dome Bests Vieira As NYCFC Eliminate the Union / Ep 207 / Blue City Radio

Episode 207:

Credit to Mike Coniaris (a name easier to spell than pronounce) for the title, but the tongue in cheek joke is appropriate.  NYCFC for the first time in club history has won a playoff round.  So in essence, Torrent accomplished something that Vieira failed to do in his two post-season attempts.

This week Mike, J. R. and Nick Chavez break down the game from Halloween night.  They also included the post game comments from Alex Ring, Maxime Chanot, Anton Tinnerholm and Sean Johnson.

And lastly, the guys answer your comments and questions.

NYCFC Gonna NYCFC and Dome Gonna Dome / Ep 206 / Blue City Radio

Episode 206:

NYCFC played their best game in well over two months and possibly longer.  The team played as a unit for the first time in a long time and from that NYCFC supporters should feel more confident heading into the Audi MLS Cup Playoffs. But many are also still baffled by some of the decisions of Head Coach Domenec Torrent.  On Sunday Torrent took off one of his key players for precautionary medical reasons and replaced him with a player that is still an enigma.

This week Mike and J.R. welcome Roddy Russell, Jr from NYCFC Nation to the show to discuss the Decision Day match and breakdown the key plays.

We also hear post game comments from Alex Ring and David Villa.

Audi Field Was Impressive, NYCFC, Not So Much / Ep 204 / Blue City Radio

Episode 204:

Here’s a challenge for you.  Attend a soccer match, analyze it, hop into your car and then discuss the game with a friend while driving on a highway for two hours.

That’s what co-host Mike Anderer attempted to accomplish on Sunday evening.  In this week’s episode J.R. deBart handles the hosting duties while Mike weaved his way up the Beltway and through Delaware following NYCFC’s first visit to Audi Field and a road loss to DC United.

This week’s episode includes comments from Alex Ring and at the end of the show an interview with Jonathon Lewis.
