Earlier in the day, Mike Anderer was at NYCFC training so we also have audio from that session including interviews with Patrick Vieira, Ebenezer Ofori and Tommy McNamara.

Costly Mistakes In Houston / Ep 179 / Blue City Radio

Episode 179:

Friday night NYCFC and their supporters were on a high.  The continuous rumors about Head Coach Patrick Vieira departing died down as the team arrived in Houston.  They had the momentum of the 4-0 victory against Colorado to build upon, and then at 1:04 into the game Albert Elis would head a ball past Johnson and off the post.  Immediately, the anticipation turned into agita.

David Villa would score in the 6th minute, but that’s all the offense NYCFC could muster and with the team making three critical mistakes, it would cost them three points.

Mike, Jon and J.R. discuss the NYCFC loss, the Champions League Final and a little VAR in this week’s episode.  We also have some of Patrick Vieira’s post game comments courtesy of Roddy Russell from the NYCFC Nation.

Vieira Confronts Reports of His Departure / Ep 178 / Blue City Radio

Episode 178:

It had become something NYCFC fans have gotten used to, rumors that another European club has been courting Patrick Vieira to lead their struggling team to prominence.  This was different.  Early last week what was just wild speculation turned into confirmed reports of team representatives traveling from France to New York and additional reports that Vieira himself traveled back to France this past weekend.

When NYCFC hosted the media at training, for the first time that I can recall, the attention was more off the field than on it.  While we watched the team continue to develop its comfort in the 3-5-2 formation, the conversations were more about updates and what the newest source from Europe was sharing.

This week’s episode includes the media scrum from Vieira as he tries to keep the team focused on the task at hand.  We also include two interviews with Ronald Matarrita and Rodney Wallace as the pair share the stories of their journey together both with NYCFC and Costa Rica.

David Villa, My My, Never Want to Let You Go / Ep 177 / Blue City Radio

Episode 177:

NYCFC started the rainy Saturday off with a celebration of David Villa and his four hundred goals for club and country.  It ended with Yankee Stadium and the NYCFC fans congratulating him on continuing to add to the total.

In the midst of the celebrations, there is a dark cloud hanging over NYCFC with the rumors of Patrick Vieira leaving the club getting more intense every week.

Mike Allen, J.R. and Mike welcome Trey Fillmore from Blue Balls Podcast to discuss the Colorado game and so much more.

NYCFC Host Colorado and Brendan Wyatt / Ep 176 / Blue City Radio

Episode 176:

NYCFC has not lost to Colorado, nor have they dropped any points at home this season.  They look to keep both records intact as Tim Howard and the Colorado Rapids make their return to Yankee Stadium.

Mike and Mike Allen interview Brendan Wyatt from the Voice of C38 to get his perspective on how new head coach Anthony Hudson is affecting change in Colorado.

Clash Of the Titans / Ep 175 / Blue City Radio

Episode 175

NYCFC needed to bounce back from a difficult match in NJ and it wasn’t going to be an easy ask facing the number two team in the west, MLS newcomers, LAFC.

In a game that was wide open at times and where it appeared both offenses were not struggling to create chances, just finish them, NYCFC proved strong enough to earn another tough road point.  In fact they’ve earned points in 5 of their league leading 7 road matches this season already.

Jon Sauerschell returns to the show after a hiatus following the birth of his son. Jon, Mike and J.R. get caught on the storylines around NYCFC and then recap the game in LA.

Does Redemption Lie in LA / Ep 174 / Blue City Radio

Epsiode 174:

NYCFC look to change the narrative and prove once again that they are one of the top teams in MLS.  The first chance to for them to make their case is Sunday evening in LA.

Mike and J.R. both attended NYCFC training this week. They have audio from Anton Tinnerholm, Ismael Tajouri-Shradi and Patrick Vieira.  They also interview John Rojas from Soccer In the City.

Pointing Fingers Is Not Enough For NYCFC To Get the Win / Ep 173 / Blue City Radio

Episode 173:

It took 4 minutes for NYCFC to lose on Saturday.  Some say it took even less.  Sadly, NYCFC fans would have to suffer through another 92 minutes of the game.  While the banter was heated leading into this match as usual, Red Bull stunned NYCFC and quieted their fans early.

Anthony Merced, the newest Dude In Blue, joins the show to discuss his recap and defends his case against our resident geography guru, J.R. deBart.

It was a bad performance by NYCFC, we hope our episode was less painful, but similar to Saturday, you might have to wait for the second half to find the bright spots.

Villa Gets 400 and 401, But More Importantly NYCFC Get 3 / Ep 171 / Blue City Radio

Episode 171:

David Villa was recently criticized for being a ball hog.  On Sunday April 29, versus FC Dallas, Villa proved his detractors wrong being a distributor and playmaker creating multiple chances for NYCFC and having a key pass on the team’s first goal.

Mike, Mike and J.R. look back at the game and break down the key plays.  Mike also brings back locker room quotes from Alex Ring, Anton Tinnerholm, Jon Lewis, Ben Sweat and Sebastian Ibeagha.
